The Apple Cloud Networking team builds software-defined network infrastructure as a part of Apple Cloud. Our infrastructure is a critical foundation in delivering Apple’s services (such as iCloud, iTunes, Siri, Maps) to billions of customers. We are a fast paced organization where drive and collaboration are the keys to success. As a part of the Apple Cloud Network team, you will build and operationalize platforms and solutions that will craft the future of our hyper-scale network infrastructure. We are looking for candidates who have a strong passion in building, deploying, and operating platforms that are part of large scale systems for high performance and reliability with broad experience in site reliability engineering, observability, distributed systems architecture, and networking.

• The cloud network engineering team is looking for an experienced platform engineer with experience in developing, deploying, and supporting foundational platforms for large scale distributed systems. You will contribute to the end-to-end design, development, and support of these systems including, but not limited to, observability, support documentation, architecture, design, and development.
• In an organization with daring goals and autonomy, you will engage in providing technical leadership on high impact projects, influence and drive multi-functional teams, facilitate alignment and clarity across teams, and balance priorities, deadlines and deliverables. You will be encouraged to practice and champion foundational software and systems development principles.
• The role requires utmost ownership and a hands‑on leader who has a steadfast passion and enthusiasm for building sophisticated and powerful systems and platforms for solving sophisticated problems at scale.

• Software development skills in compiled languages (Golang, etc), version control systems (Git), and CI systems (Jenkins, etc)
• Understanding of virtualization and containerization technologies (Docker, VMs, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and network troubleshooting
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, architectures, and APIs.
• Experience with Integration / interactions of tooling with APIs
• Hands‑on experience with large‑scale production systems
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills
• Strong and proven record of working with cross‑functional teams
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to articulate concepts, designs, and decisions

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Experience working with infrastructure‑as‑code / configuration management tools and APIs (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform)
• Experience building monitoring, alerting, and observability for large scale distributed systems
• Experience working with bare metal systems and knowledge of operating systems
• In‑depth knowledge on networking protocols and packet forwarding architecture
• Knowledge of SDN protocols and APIs (NETCONF, gRPC, gNMI, Open Flow, etc.)
• Experience building monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, time‑series…
