Software Engineer III

As a Software Engineer III, you will lead the design and development of scalable software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management and user experience. You will troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective resolutions to enhance system performance. This role involves managing projects from requirements gathering through delivery, ensuring code quality, security, and maintainability. You will also provide technical guidance to small engineering groups, support continuous integration and deployment, and contribute to process improvements that drive operational excellence and business value.

The Sam’s Promotions Platform team develops and manages omni-channel promotions supporting Membership, Merchandising, Marketing, and Loyalty across in-club, online, and mobile channels. The team delivers scalable, reliable solutions by addressing complex challenges involving multiple systems and large-scale data. Utilizing modern web, cloud, and data technologies, the team focuses on performance, resiliency, and measurable business impact. Their work enhances operational efficiency and member value within the US business, driving end-to-end promotion creation, validation, execution, and measurement to support key business outcomes.

Collaborate with product, project, business, and user experience teams to develop high-level designs for small to medium projects.

Analyze and troubleshoot production issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions.

Translate project requirements into technical solutions, develop code, and conduct unit testing to ensure quality delivery.

Manage complex projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet timelines and business objectives.

Create and maintain documentation, including traceability matrices and user stories, supporting agile development.

Mentor and guide small engineering groups, providing technical direction and oversight.

Implement automation scripts and telemetry features to enhance continuous integration and delivery processes.

• Proven experience in software design, development, and delivery using object-oriented programming and iterative development methodologies.
• Strong technical acumen with expertise in API design, platform development, and component services.
• Proficiency in debugging, testing, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
• Ability to analyze requirements, perform root cause analysis, and develop sustainable technical solutions.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery and quality outcomes.
• Knowledge of security standards and telemetry implementation in software applications.
• Capability to mentor and guide small engineering teams effectively.
