Software Engineer, Frontend

Role Overview

We are hiring a Founding Frontend Software Engineer to lead the development of intuitive, high-performance user experiences for Realm Labs’ AI Trust & Safety platform. You will build the core UI layer used by customers and internal teams to configure, observe, and understand AI behavior in production.

This is a high-ownership, early role where you will design and ship features end-to-end from UX research and prototyping to implementation, performance optimization, and long-term maintainability. You’ll partner closely with product, backend, and design teams to deliver elegant, responsive web applications that scale with enterprise needs.

You should be passionate about modern frontend engineering, have a strong design sense, and care deeply about performance, usability, accessibility, and developer experience.

• Build and ship high-quality frontend features for our customer-facing UI, including:
• Real-time dashboards and analytics
• Policy configuration workflows
• Model inspection and alerting interfaces
• Role-based access and security features

• Collaborate with product designers, backend engineers, and data teams to:
• Translate UX requirements into frontend architecture
• Define API contracts and data flows
• Deliver performant, reliable, and testable UIs

• Ensure best practices in frontend development, including:
• Accessibility (a11y) and responsive design
• Performance optimization and memory profiling
• Component design and reuse

• Build systems and tooling that improve developer experience, such as:
• Design systems and component libraries
• Testing infrastructure and automation
• CI/CD for frontend releases

• Partner with backend and infrastructure teams to:
• Define efficient data protocols (Graph
  
  QL/REST)
• Handle real-time updates and streaming interfaces
• Ensure secure authentication and authorization flows

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production frontend systems
• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/Type Script and frameworks such as React
• Experience building responsive, accessible, and visually polished web applications
• Deep understanding of web performance, browser internals, and networking
• Comfortable collaborating across teams in fast-paced environments

• Experience building platforms or internal tooling used by enterprise customers
• Experience with Type Script, React, Next.js, or similar frameworks
• Familiarity with frontend state management, bundlers, and app architecture
• Experience working with data-rich dashboards, charts, and real-time interfaces
• Prior startup or founding team experience

• This is a founding frontend role with direct impact on product direction and user experience
