Software Engineering Manager, Global Infrastructure

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++.
• 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience working in a global organization.
• Experience managing a team of software engineers.
• Experience with performance optimization of software systems, and debugging distributed software systems.
• Experience designing and implementing large-scale, real-time software systems, and with software-defined networking.

With your extensive technical expertise you take initiative to independently design and implement new systems, designing, implementing, and testing multiple features with little or no direction from tech lead or manager. You collaborate with key stakeholders to determine future direction of work.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. • Manage a team of software engineers, including sub-managers.
• Provide technical guidance to the team as they design, develop, integrate and test the features for B4 availability and NPI.
• Prioritize work and ensure that incremental progress is made even if the problems are difficult to solve.
• Help team members and partner teams understand the broader context, and solve the problems at the time.
• Be comfortable with changes in the execution plan if they are enabling the right impact for Google.
