Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Systems/Firmware, Platforms Infrastructure Engineering

This role is based in Sunnyvale, CA and offers a base salary range of $166,000 to $244,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. You will develop embedded systems and firmware that support Google’s platforms infrastructure, working on critical projects across AI, infrastructure, and hardware initiatives.

Google’s engineers build next‑generation technologies that enable billions of users to connect, explore, and interact with information worldwide. As an engineer, you’ll collaborate across full‑stack teams, design and implement scalable solutions, and continually innovate in distributed computing, networking, security, and artificial intelligence.

• Write and test product or system development code.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt it based on product or program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing the sources of issues and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in low‑level systems programming languages (e.g., C++ or
  
  C).
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
