Position: Post Doctoral Fellow (PAI Team)

Job Summary

The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct cutting‑edge research projects focused on scientific understanding of artificial intelligence for alignment, contributing to the advancement of safe and trustworthy AI systems. This position offers opportunities to work at the intersection of multiple disciplines while developing novel approaches to AI safety and ethics.

Responsibilities
  • Design and execute research projects in collaboration with the group leader and team members, focusing on science of AI systems
  • Develop and validate theoretical frameworks and experimental methodologies
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to intern students
  • Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences
  • Participate in regular team meetings and research discussions
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external academic partners
Qualifications and Skills
  • PhD in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Strong academic record with demonstrated research excellence
  • Publication history in peer‑reviewed journals
  • Extensive knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
    • Artificial neural networks and deep learning
    • Physics and complex systems
    • Cognitive psychology
    • Machine learning and AI systems
  • Experience with programming languages (Python, PyTorch, Tensor Flow, etc.)
  • Track record of successful collaboration in research teams
  • Experience mentoring junior researchers preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Creative thinking with demonstrated ability to pursue novel research directions
  • Excellent programming and data analysis skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Cultural awareness and commitment to fostering an inclusive research environment
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new techniques and approaches
