Overview
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and executing aerospace precision inspection and quality assurance activities across mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials. This role ensures full compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and internal quality standards through the use of variable and attribute measurement techniques.
ResponsibilitiesPrimary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform Receiving, In-Process, and Final Inspections
, including First Article Inspections (FAI) for new or revised products in accordance with customer and AS9100 requirements - Verify product conformance through visual inspection, testing, measurement, and analysis; document and record pass/fail results for management review
- Review, release, and monitor work orders and job travelers to ensure inspection requirements are complete, accurate, and aligned with drawings and specifications
- Identify, manage, and resolve non-conformances
, including corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) - Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards
- Interface with vendors and customers regarding inspection results, quality data, and corrective actions
- Provide quality guidance during design, engineering, and specification development to optimize quality processes and inspection methods
- Collaborate with Program Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure customer requirements are effectively flowed down to products and services
- Support manufacturing and quality planning activities to ensure seamless execution and on-time delivery
- Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance; overtime and weekend work may be required as business needs dictate
Skills & Qualifications
- Required experience in an aerospace CNC manufacturing environment
, including AS9100 and First Article Inspection - Preferred experience with CMM and portable arm inspection
, including working knowledge of PC-DMIS and Verisurf - Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and process specifications
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and calibration practices
- Solid understanding of Quality Assurance and metrology principles
, with working knowledge of NADCAP, ISO, and AS9100 standards - Familiarity with aerospace materials, products, and assigned commodity areas
- Experience using ERP systems
, preferably JobBOSS
, and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite - Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent relevant work experience required
- Master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing
