The Director of New Platforms leads cross‑functional technical teams that innovate new solutions to meet unmet business needs. The role manages programs from research through product incubation, driving product definition, development, and business validation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a technical team through early‑stage de‑risking, product development, and business validation of priority product opportunities.
- Partner with senior leadership to define direction for new products, processes, standards, and operational plans aligned with business strategy.
- Develop program plans and budgets; implement resource‑management best practices.
- Lead the team in goal setting, performance management, career growth, hiring, budgeting, and spend management.
- Prioritize internal projects, processes, and initiatives to achieve functional and business objectives.
- Represent program status in interactions with key customer collaborators and internal stakeholders.
- Develop research and development plans, partner on financial performance strategy, KPI impact strategy, and field validation studies.
- Successful experience in hospital‑based medical technology realization from initial customer need through product launch.
- Proven technical and tactical leadership for staff and peers in a startup medical technology environment within a larger organization.
- Ability to hold a program vision and execute tactics for high‑visibility projects with multiple sub‑teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication with customers, regulators, and key opinion leaders.
- Robust problem‑solving and critical thinking skills.
- Evidence of leading high‑capability technical professionals.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, science, or a healthcare‑related discipline.
- 15+ years of progressive people and operations leadership experience.
- Leadership of medical technology projects from inception through field validation to launch.
- Quantitative analysis and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
- Experience with intellectual property fundamentals.
- Capacity to relate to all levels of employees.
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time and some international travel.
Base salary range: $210,800 – $316,200 per year (region‑specific). In addition, compensation includes incentives, benefits, and equity opportunities. Travel: 10% of the time. Workplace: fully onsite.
