Job Summary

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the operation of a building’s mechanical and utility systems. This position checks operation of all installed machinery and safety equipment periodically as programmed, as well as inspects areas of buildings for personnel and patient protection (fire, safety, and security) and recommends corrections. The Maintenance Engineer makes emergency repair of equipment or apparatus as required, and installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs mechanical and fixed equipment as directed, as well as carries out preventive maintenance programs.

Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Assists in major and minor utility shut down requested by various departments, outside contractors, and in‑house shops.
  • Complies with all hospital standards and policies with a focus on safety, license requirements, smoking, attendance, and training.
  • Installs new or replacement machinery, equipment, and fixture following applicable building codes.
  • ains and repairs various equipment used in the hospitals, which include kitchen equipment, patient related equipment, various systems, and multifunction machines.
  • Operates various machine tools. (Lathe, drill press, power saw, hydraulic press, etc.)
  • Performs equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Performs routine inspections of building machines, noting deficiencies, and initiates repairs. As appropriate, responds to customer requests to address environmental deficiencies.
  • Performs welding, brazing, and soldering in accordance with recognized and accepted standards and practices.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience:

    Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
  • License/Certification:
    None.
Knowledge
  • Ability to operate standard tools, instruments and equipment used on the job.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment.
  • Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair.

Pay Range

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range. Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $54.94 to $62.31.
