Senior, Data Scientist; Personalization

Position Summary

Walmart Global Tech is looking to hire a seasoned Senior Data Scientist for their Personalization team in Sunnyvale, CA to support the Personalization and Recommendation development efforts with our eCommerce team.

The Person alization team consists of platform, application engineers, scientists and product visionaries all working together to design, prototype and build technology-driven products and experiences that will change the future landscape of ecommerce. We are focused on building end-to-end customer experience, from finding the product to delivering it to the customer. This will span many markets, business models and form factors;

therefore, we are looking for data scientists who will bring not only the experiences in technologies, but the curiosity and capability to innovate. Put your footprint on ground up development focused on building brand new products that will impact a global customer base.

• Develop state of the art techniques in Machine Learning, Personalization and Recommendation systems
• Design, implement, and own the state-of-the-art Machine Learning approaches including deep learning, reinforcement learning, generative AI techniques
• Collaborate with other tech leads on top-down or bottom-up initiatives and priorities
• Develop data models and iteratively improve them based on new data insights
• Design, architect and iterate on data models
• Iterate, challenge, and accelerate best practices in Personalization and Item Recommendations

• Master's degree/Ph.D in Data Science, Computer Science or related fields with practical experience
• Expertise in Machine Learning, Statistics, Generative AI, Personalization and Item Recommendation algorithms
• Experience in data science and building and evaluating large scale machine learning and deep learning models
• Experience in designing and deploying highly scalable Recommender systems for e-commerce
• Curiosity in state-of-the-art techniques in recommendation related areas
• Exceptional business acumen and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to prototype and implement complex AI solutions
• Outstanding communication, leadership, and written skills
• Strong coding skills in Python or other related language
• Experience building scalable data pipelines using Spark, Hive, and/or SQL
• Experience designing scalable end-to-end model architectures and conducting experiments in PyTorch/Tensor Flow to solve complex predictive modeling problems

• Personalization and recommendation development and implementation experience in an e-commerce environment strongly preferred
