Senior Product Designer, Onboarding & Activation

About The Team Door Dash is a growth engine for the local economy, and the Merchant Onboarding & Activation team is responsible for the first step in every merchant’s journey to be a part of that growth. This team is dedicated to empowering merchants with a seamless path to sign, activate, and be successful from day one. Every merchant (from restaurants to grocery stores to flower shops) must be able to sign up for Door Dash easily, whether through self-serve flows, Sales-assisted flows, or via integrations with POS providers.

Once on Door Dash, this team ensures that merchants are set up to be successful through education and best practices. We believe that if we fulfill our mission, merchants will understand the value of Door Dash, onboard instantly, and be well on their way to taking orders and growing their business.

About The Role As the Senior Product Designer for Merchant Onboarding & Activation, you’ll define the user experience for merchants to discover Door Dash, onboard, and set themselves up for success. You’ll be responsible for influencing the strategic direction of the team, and will be involved in the entire product development process from research to creating visions to iterating on experiences for launch.

Your success requires being able to navigate low- and high-altitude work simultaneously, balancing short-term tactical experiments with long-term strategic bets. You’ll need to be passionate about helping merchants succeed, as you’ll be expected to drive design strategy with sometimes ambiguous starting points, using data, running experiments, and building business cases to influence the roadmap of the team.

You will report to the Director of Design, Merchant Success & Experience. This role is hybrid, with some time in-office and some time remote from one of our design hubs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the user experience of products end-to-end, including contributing to product strategy, running design sprints, creating visions, and establishing frameworks.
  • Explore complex, ambiguous problem spaces, understand opportunities with your team, and chart a path forward.
  • Push the creative boundaries of merchant experiences with wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual design.
  • Help merchants grow their businesses and improve the lives of millions of Door Dash customers every day.
  • Design and ship high-quality product experiences.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of work experience
  • Ability to distill complexity into intuitive experiences, considering every facet of the user journey
  • Strategic thinker who balances user and business needs to achieve strong solutions
  • Craftsperson who cares about elevating the experience and pays attention to detail
  • Strong communication of complex topics to stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience leveraging quantitative data to inform design decisions
  • Bonus: service design experience or experience collaborating with Sales teams
