About the RoleLockheed Martin Space is seeking an early career Mechanical Engineer to start in the summer of 2026. In this role, you will perform design, drafting and stress analysis tasks of mechanical ground support equipment for spacecraft production and testing. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of 3D modeling and knowledge of Stress analysis/Finite Element Analysis. Must be a US Citizen.
This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Structural Engineering or related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis.
- Proficient with engineering CAD tools (Any 3‑D Platform such as CREO or Solid Works) OR stress analysis experience/Finite Element Analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and create new drawings.
- Candidate must have the ability to work in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules.
- Candidate must have good oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, and AWS standards applicable to mechanical and structural systems.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
- Hands‑on experience through project work, internship experience or building/working on personal projects.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full‑time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off.
