Job Description
Pay Range: $70.08hr - $74.08hr
- The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for leading supplier qualification, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- This role partners closely with suppliers and internal engineering teams to ensure high levels of quality, capacity, and risk mitigation while supporting new product introductions and ongoing manufacturing operations.
- Experience in engineering and manufacturing of metal injection molding, machined metal, or plastic injection molding parts.
- Strong knowledge of supplier quality, process validation, and manufacturing process control.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and suppliers simultaneously.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Minimum three years of experience in engineering and manufacturing related to metal injection molding, machined metal, or plastic injection molding parts.
- Experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC programs at suppliers.
- Experience evaluating supplier technical, quality, and business capabilities.
- Complete supplier and part qualification deliverables including pFMEA, process validations, inspection reports, gage R&R, and process capability analysis.
- Work with suppliers to drive cost reduction, capacity improvement, and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Select appropriate suppliers and manufacturing processes based on long-term fit and total cost of ownership.
- Manage supplier manufacturing changes including process changes, equipment qualification, and production line validations.
- Initiate and manage changes to specifications and drawings through the engineering change process.
- Drive supplier issue resolution from root cause analysis through corrective and preventive actions.
- Track and report project status and supplier performance metrics to stakeholders.
- Develop and execute supplier improvement strategies and best practices.
- Provide supply base performance insights and recommendations to management.
- Create and maintain supplier scorecards and communication materials.
- Support new product introduction by assessing supplier readiness and capacity.
- Engage suppliers early in product development to improve manufacturability.
- Support supplier selection and evaluation activities.
- Review and close customer complaints, manufacturing variances, and first article inspections.
- Evaluate corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
- Experience with high-volume medical device manufacturing.
- CAD experience with three-dimensional modeling tools.
- Supplier quality management.
- Project management.
- Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and SPC methodologies.
- Statistical analysis tools.
- Root cause analysis and corrective action management.
- Technical drawing and GD&T interpretation.
- Supplier performance and risk assessment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience using statistical analysis software.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
