The position owns engineering for released, commercial products, ensuring their performance, quality, reliability, and manufacturability throughout the product lifecycle.

It is a high‑visibility, central leadership role suited for someone who thrives on building teams, processes, and best practices from the ground up; and scaling them effectively.

This role serves as the production engineering hub between QA, R&D, Manufacturing, and Operations.

Core Job Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Execution
  • Incorporate field learnings, quality feedback, and product optimizations into future product development best practices
  • Develop and maintain clear 3–6 month operating plans for leadership and the Product Support Engineering team
  • Build team capability to resolve the majority of field and production issues, with escalation support from R&D as needed
  • Be hands‑on initially, directly resolving complex Product Support Engineering issues as the function is established
Team Management & Scaling
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers with strong emphasis on performance management, coaching, and career growth
  • Own hiring strategy and execution—identify technical gaps and recruit top‑tier talent to build a world‑class team
  • Foster a culture of technical rigor, accountability, psychological safety, and constructive challenge
Strategic & Cross‑Functional Partnership
  • Partner closely with Regulatory, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality to align engineering execution with business priorities
  • Develop cross‑functionally viable processes for addressing design‑related field and production issues
  • Support Manufacturing on Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) improvements
  • Own resource planning, capacity management, and realistic timeline forecasting, balancing speed, risk, and technical debt
  • Support the procurement and qualification of critical manufacturing equipment
  • Support onboarding of new vendors and contract partners
  • Partner with Sourcing on re‑sourcing, cost‑down initiatives, and obsolescence mitigation
  • Own and drive cost‑of‑goods and cost‑of‑services reduction programs
Required Qualifications
  • Technical Depth: B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with strong understanding of Hardware, Firmware, Software, and Manufacturing integration
  • Experience: 8+ years in Product Support Engineering, Hardware Development, or related discipline, with 2+ years of direct people management
  • Can be an equivalent combination of education and professional experience

  • New Product Introduction Expertise: Proven experience bringing at least four complex products from concept through sustained production with strong understanding of design controls
  • Compliance Comfort: Ability to operate effectively in a regulatory‑constrained environment while leading with first‑principles engineering
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate technical risk into business impact for executive leadership
Physical Requirements
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically to designated supplier sites (estimated 5 – 10 trips per year), which may include weekend and overnight stays
  • Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms
  • Required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 20 pounds
