Position Overview

Join our team as an Electronics Engineer working on the development of a sophisticated, state‐of‐the‐art avionics product in a world class Integrated Product Development environment dauerhaft.

Location

The position is based in Sunnyvale, CA. Some teleworking is supported, but the selected candidate will need to be located near the Lockheed Martin Space facility and be expected to work in the office as needed.

Key Activities
  • Support all technical aspects of avionics design, development, integration, test, and verification as the Certified Principal Engineer for a redesign effort.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, design, manufacturing, qualification, and acceptance for a complex electro‑optical system.
  • Apply circuit design and troubleshooting principles to the development of new electronics hardware.
  • Investigate hardware failures during engineering development, qualification, and acceptance testing at the part, CCA, and package levels.
  • Critically review technical documentation, test plans, analyses, and reports.
  • Mentor junior engineers and interface extensively with customers, subcontractors, and leadership.
  • Assist with design reviews, investigations, and critical tests at supplier sites (travel < 25%).
Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Experience in both design and test of electrical hardware.
  • 5+ years professional experience; 3+ years with a master’s degree.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance – ship is required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in design and test of complex electrical hardware.
  • Experience working on project teams and development efforts.
  • Experience with design of digital and analog circuits.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware using schematics, drawings, and simulation tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance – ship is required.
Desired Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic, collaborative team environment and build effective relationships.
  • Demonstrated communication skills to articulate complex issues at appropriate levels of detail for both highly technical and non‑technical peers, management, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Capability to lead a team responsible for the development of avionics; experience as Certified Principal Engineer (CPE), Subject Matter Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Experience leading/coordinating small diverse teams

    Bridge to the development of technical products.
  • Experience leading Failure Review Board (FRB) investigations to isolate and address root causes with corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Demonstrated experience with design and/or analysis of PCB/PWB, Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA), and/or electronic packages.
  • Must be able to work autonomously and drive items to closure.
  • Experience performing electronics analysis (Worst‑Case Analysis, Electrical Parts Stress Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Critical Analysis).
  • Experience with design and test of electro‑optical devices.
  • Experience on space and/or missile defense missions.
  • Familiarity with the THAAD weapon system.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
