ERM is hiring an on-site Consulting Senior Associate, Commercial Construction Safety Specialist to support and lead safety initiatives across client construction sites in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, etc.).

Construction projects are complex, and safety is non-negotiable. In this role, you’ll be the trusted advisor and proactive presence that ensures every worker goes home safe. Your work will directly reduce risk, prevent incidents, and foster a culture of safety excellence.
- Conduct and document daily site safety inspections.
- Enforce compliance with fall protection and scaffolding regulations.
- Review and provide feedback on contractor pre-task plans.
- Support and lead safety aspects of construction projects, integrating risk mitigation.
- Assist site leadership in improving overall safety programs.
- Serve as a proactive safety presence during high-risk activities.
- Lead and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis.
- Facilitate toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and jobsite safety meetings.
- Collaborate with trade partners to ensure safe work practices.
- Build strong relationships while maintaining accountability for safety standards.
- Identify hazards and recommend timely, practical corrective actions.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related science OR equivalent work experience (2 years = 1 year education).
- 1+ years of commercial construction safety experience.
- Ability to review and critique Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) or pre-task plans.
- Strong communication skills—approachable yet firm in enforcing safety standards.
- Proficient experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to travel to client sites (2–4 days/week) within the Bay Area.
- Self-directed and reliable in fast-paced environments.
- Driver's License
Required:
valid driver's license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle due to travel to various client locations. - This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
- 2+ years of commercial construction safety experience.
- Skilled trades background (e.g., carpentry, electrical, crane lift).
- Experience with Facility Commissioning.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification.
Anticipated hourly pay range: $32.05 – $40.53 (USD). Actual pay depends on education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
