Public Works Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced public works superintendent to manage a public water treatment plant in the San Francisco Bay Area. Minimum 10 years of experience in construction of major facilities, including at least 5 years in water treatment plant construction.

• Lead the planning and execution of public works projects ranging from $5M to $100M+
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, cost forecasts, and resource allocations
• Coordinate and supervise field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and material deliveries
• Ensure compliance with contract documents, local/state/federal regulations, and safety protocols
• Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, inspectors, and public agencies
• Prepare and review submittals, RFIs, change orders, progress billings, and project documentation
• Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, productivity, and safety
• Lead internal project meetings and communicate updates to leadership and stakeholders
• Drive project closeout activities, including punch lists, documentation, and owner turnover
• Identify and mitigate potential risks, delays, and claims proactively

• 7+ years of experience in project management for heavy civil construction or public works
• Proven experience managing water treatment plants and/or other major facilities with public works departments
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
• Strong understanding of municipal specifications, labor compliance, and permitting processes
• Proficient with construction management software such as Primavera P6, Procore, MS Project, or similar
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
• OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain
• BSCE or BSCM preferred

• Annual Salary of $140,000-$180,000
