Overview
Summer Camp Counselor positions at BASIS Independent Schools to supervise, plan, and deliver day and specialty camp activities for preschool through grade 8 students (mid-June to mid-August). Roles include Day Camp Counselor, Lead Counselor, and Specialty Lead Teacher responsibilities: maintaining camper health/safety, organizing activities, modeling positive behavior, and communicating with parents. Requires high school diploma, fingerprint clearance, ability to work full- or part-time, physical stamina, and eligibility to work in the U.S.;
prior child-care experience preferred.

BASIS Independent Silicon Valley Lower is Seeking Camp Counselors and Lead Teachers for Summer 2026!
Who We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for camp leaders who are enthusiastic about making camp a fun and enriching experience:
- Day Camp Counselor: support Lead Counselors and help guide campers through daily activities.
- Day Camp Lead Counselor: use provided materials to plan, teach, and coordinate day camp activities for a specific age group, helping campers build personal growth and daily living skills.
- Specialty Camp Lead Teacher: plan and lead themed camps with support from a summer team.
- Dates:
Mid-June to mid-August - Schedule:
Full-time and part-time positions available; camp hours are 7:30 AM–6:00 PM, including before and after care. - Flexibility:
Qualified candidates can choose the weeks they want to work or commit to the full summer.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety for campers and staff.
- Assist or lead the organization, supervision, and delivery of camp activities to meet camper outcomes.
- Be a role model for campers and staff with a positive attitude and strong behavior.
- Represent the camp when interacting with parents and the broader community.
- Has excitement, joy, and passion for working with kids.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with campers, employees, and parents.
- Cooperative, supportive, flexible, and organized.
- Able to build a positive camp community and foster relationships with students.
- Strong work ethic and a problem-solving mindset.
- Minimum:
High school diploma and valid fingerprint clearance. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. - Preferred:
Experience working with children, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a high level of personal responsibility. - Able to walk and stand for long periods of time both inside and outside the building.
