We are recruiting for a Structural Engineer to be an integral part of the team :
This role can will be based in either Sunderland OR Chorley depending on the distance of the individual (TBD)

Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications and confirm scope of supply (including anticipated cost / programme and the impact into the project team.
- Prepare Civil / Structural Basis of Design summary prior to commencing engineering works.
- Produce analysis models to validate civil / structural configurations, and to generate foundation loads.
- Ensure analytical models are transferring loads as expected, and that axial forces and moments are fixed / released as stability (& connection design) demand.
- Produce hand calculations to validate connection design.
- Effectively communicate design requirements to the design team.
- Check Civil / Structural drawing output (as required) to ensure that the information within reflects analytical models and calculations.
- Prepare Civil / Structural calculation reports for inclusion into the project technical file.
- Support CAT 2 / CAT 3 checking requirements with any supplementary information as required.
- Attend sites as required, to conduct site and / or condition surveys, and prepare reports on findings thereafter.
- Attend project design / model reviews as required, supporting interfacing and tolerancing where applicable.
- Update Project Engineer and Head of Civil / Structural on progress against task on a weekly basis, Highlighting any blockers or foreseen issues as / when they become evident.
- Responsible for identifying any (internal / external) changes to civil / structural scope and escalating to the Project Engineer to capture via the DCN process.
- Deliver works in alignment with the business’ ISO 9001 processes and templates as controlled within the Quality Management System (COS).
- Identification, and escalation, of all civil / structural Technical Queries (TQ) that occur on the project.
Minimum BEng (Hons) in Engineering (preferably Civil or Structural Engineering).
Experience in a Civil / Structural engineering field.
Knowledge of the construction & process industries and applicable standards.
Ability to use structural analytical software unaided - STAAD Pro or TEKLA Structures.
Understanding of load cases and combinations, and able to deduce structures are behaving as intended through calculation or analysis.
Experience of good time management in a project delivery environment.
Strong attention to detail and committed to quality performance / output.
Strong communicator with internal and external customers alike, with good presentation skills.
