If you are a teaching fellow entering their third year as a teaching fellow, you will need to have worked 168 clinical hours in the last 24 months, and have had successful annual appraisals.

Undergraduate Medical Education requires committed and interested staff to enable students to make the most of the teaching opportunities available. We have 8 posts for a motivated medical teacher to join the team.

The role will involve supporting and developing undergraduate teaching while taking a lead in some of the more complex planning of the curriculum and delivery of key concepts for Undergraduate Medical education (University of Sunderland or Newcastle University) within the Trust.

There are opportunities for the postholder to build on the existing curriculum to develop innovative and novel teaching approaches.

This post offers the opportunity to gain broad experience within the undergraduate teaching team. There are no existing designated clinical sessions as the post is 100% teaching.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include planning, delivery and evaluation of the undergraduate curriculum for medical students.

Candidates must have a full GMC registration, MBBS qualification (or equivalent) and have completed the Foundation Programme. They should be able to work as effectively as part of a team with both autonomous as well as delegated responsibilities. Prior involvement in undergraduate or other structured teaching is useful as the role involves being able to take a lead in teaching and learning activities, ensuring effective time management and having great organisational skills.

Candidates should have worked clinically in a medicine role as medicine knowledge is essential, as well as good communication and interpersonal skills.

Previous experience of working as a Doctor in an NHS setting is essential.

Successful candidates must have an interest in the specialty for which they are applying and be fully registered with the GMC.
