Graduate Teaching Assistant - Sunderland Secondary School

Teaching Personnel is seeking a suitably qualified, enthusiastic, and motivated graduate looking to gain experience before pursuing a career in education. You'll join an outstanding secondary school in Sunderland as a Teaching Assistant.
You need:- Ability and willingness to understand the needs of students from different social backgrounds, sensory impairments, and special educational needs
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with young people and adults
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work constructively as part of a team
- Good ICT skills to support learning
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills with a commitment to personal career development
- Desire to gain experience working in a school, with a view to possibly move into teaching in the future
- Developing knowledge of a range of learning support needs and understanding the specific needs of the children you support
- Ensuring that students are able to use equipment and materials provided
- Motivating and encouraging students as required
Assisting in weaker areas such as language, behaviour, reading, spelling, handwriting and presentation skills - Establishing a supportive relationship with students
- Assisting, with the class teacher (and other professionals as appropriate), in the development of suitable programmes of support for students requiring learning support, regularly reminding subject teachers of key worker students' targets
