Teaching Assistant – Level 2 Qualified

Location: Sunderland
Rate: £90–£110 per day
Contract: Temporary / Long-term opportunities

About the Role

We are seeking a Level 2 Qualified Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Sunderland, supporting pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. This setting provides a structured, nurturing environment for pupils who have struggled to engage in mainstream education.

You will play a key role in supporting learning, behaviour and emotional regulation, helping pupils build confidence and re-engage with education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

  • Support the delivery of personalised learning programmes.

  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.

  • Encourage positive engagement and learning routines.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.

  • Monitor and feedback on pupil progress.

Skills & Experience
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential).

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.

  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.

  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
