Responsibilities
  • In liaison with the apprenticeship team, admissions and course leader participate in the recruitment of apprentices and contribute to the University and employer induction processes as appropriate.
  • Manage Tripartite Review Meetings (meeting with the apprentice and the employer) on a quarterly basis in accordance with due process, and any other additional meetings relating to employer activity and learner progress.
  • With support and where required, deliver high quality, learning experiences at the apprentices workplace.
  • Lead on development and monitoring of management action plans for apprentices who are not maintaining appropriate progress, including attendance at action planning and review meetings following University and employer disciplinary procedures.
  • Visit apprentices in employment setting and provide effective feedback, support and guidance to promote performance.
  • Manage issues, in liaison with the apprenticeship and course teams, of apprentices who are failing to progress, considering leaving, wishing to take a study break or have long term sickness.
  • Provide pastoral care to apprentices, for example working with expectant apprentices and employers to develop a maternity plan, sign post to support services.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress through learner reviews via APTEM (learner management system), in accordance with the latest funding rules and University procedures.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with employer partners through appropriate meetings such as contract review meetings and engagement forums.
  • Engage in appropriate professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to supporting apprenticeships.
  • Support and monitor apprentices' progress in meeting and evidencing the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours outlined in apprenticeship standards.
  • Monitor and report individual progression for an assigned caseload of learners in the relevant apprenticeship standard within agreed timescales.
  • Act as key contact point for apprentice or programme delivery concerns and liaise with course team and central University services in seeking resolutions.
  • Ensure apprentices have access and opportunity to achieve the qualifications set out in their individual learning plans.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Dean and Associate Dean of Colleges, and Designated Manager.
  • Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.

Essential Criteria
  • Education, Qualifications & Training
  • First degree and postgraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Recognised teaching qualification or commitment to undertake one.
  • Evidence of recent continuing professional development relevant to the post.
  • Fellow of the HEA or commitment to work towards achieving HEA Fellow accreditation.
  • Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven experience of working effectively within a team.
