Proactive Global is currently looking for a Metal Finisher/ Fettler to join one of our well established customers based in Sunbury on Thames.
Pay rate: £14–£16 per hour depending on experience.
Job specific duties- Working with stainless steel commonly up to 3 mm
- To ensure that the visible surface areas of metalwork are finished to the required standard
- Prepare welded products before finishing (tidying welds, deburring, etc.)
- Finish welded products as per the customer requirement for each order, including Vapour Blast (glass media), NROB, and Grained finishes
- Work from engineering and manufacturing drawings independently
- Record changes required to drawings so production information can be corrected and maintained accurately
- Use safely associated machines and tools such as guillotines, rollers mediator, stud gun, grinders, power files, and drills
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship at all times
- Adhere to the company's quality policies and requirements at all times
- Ensure safe working practices at all times
- Maintain good housekeeping in your own work area in line with Lean and 5S requirements
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and implement changes to reduce cost, assembly time, and improve quality or ease of build
- Support the team to ensure flexibility of skills within the team; cross‑skilling as required
- Identify and take action when targets are not being met and waste is evident
- Design with fit, form, function, safety, and cost in mind
- Keep errors to a minimum within the team and processes
- Support the company's continuous improvement activities and data capture
- Participate in and encourage idea generation
- Take no‑go decisions and escalated when unsure
- Make concessions where appropriate and ensure no repeats
- Ensure all non‑conformances are quarantined and investigated, problems contained and corrective actions achieved by working closely with the Quality team
- Ensure Expo quality procedures are adhered to
- Rework requirements are minimised
- Team members are trained to apply the above quality requirements and standards
