Job DescriptionCreate an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all quality assurance standards. ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions:
- Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
- Follow food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
- Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
- Properly use kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping.
- Understand store layout and locate products for customers.
- Stay current with ads and promotions.
- Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions.
- Monitor inventory and stocking conditions.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
- Inspect equipment and report repairs needed.
- Report customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment and manage conflicts professionally.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance as needed.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Customer Service skills
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge
- Ability to obtain a food handler permit after employment
Experience:
- Customer Service skills
- Bakery or Deli experience helpful
- Retail experience beneficial
