PositionSummary
This position is responsible for providing primary support to both investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical research studies and projects by assisting with data collection, documentation, intake/registration, maintenance of source documents, participant recruitment and retention, data entry into research systems, data audits, maintaining research supply inventory, and performing administrative tasks and clinical assessments as assigned.
Core Functions- Assist in establishing the clinical trial record, including creation, preparation, and maintenance of study‑specific source documents; perform protocol‑required study procedures; ensure data is properly recorded in source using ALCOA principles; transcribe source data into electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
- Register potential research participants into both clinical and research systems, including demographic and insurance information.
- Prepare source and shadow charts for each participant, ensuring all documents are completed in a timely manner and filed in each binder (medical records, pharmacy orders, infusion orders, imaging documents).
- Understand the informed consent process and documentation; assist with consent audits and upload signed versions to clinical and research systems.
- Recruit potential participants via phone line, pre‑screening, medical record review, and recruitment database maintenance; attend community outreach and appreciation events as needed.
- Collect, process, package, and ship laboratory specimens (blood, urine, CSF) per protocol, laboratory manual, and IATA guidelines; maintain laboratory binder and requisition forms; schedule courier pickups and manage tracking and dry‑ice logs.
- Maintain frequent interaction with participants, families, clinicians, and other Banner departments; accompany participants to approved and affiliated Banner Health off‑site campuses for visits and procedures (infusions, imaging, registration, ophthalmology, dermatology).
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent working knowledge.
- Two years of experience in a health care setting, preferably in a research environment, providing knowledge of basic laboratory procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology to read, identify, and extract pertinent data from medical records.
- Ability to multi‑task, re‑prioritize duties as needed, and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent human relations, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in data entry and computer programs associated with maintaining databases and spreadsheets.
- Associate’s degree or Certified Research Assistant Certification.
