RoleObjectives
A General Service Technician at Gemba Automotive plays a key role in ensuring vehicle safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. This position focuses on routine maintenance, supporting shop operations, and developing technical skills to grow in the automotive repair industry. Success in this role is driven by attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to teamwork.
Key Responsibilities Perform Routine Maintenance- Carry out basic maintenance services, such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
- Follow manufacturer guidelines and shop standards to ensure services are completed correctly and efficiently.
- Perform thorough vehicle inspections using the Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) process to identify potential issues or maintenance needs.
- Document findings accurately and communicate recommendations to service advisors for customer review.
- Replace vehicle components, including brakes, tires, batteries, and other basic parts, with precision and care.
- Ensure replaced parts meet quality standards and are installed correctly.
- Record all services performed clearly and accurately in repair orders, including time spent and parts used.
- Document recommendations for future repairs or maintenance based on inspection results.
- Care for tools and shop equipment by performing regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure they remain in good working order.
- Keep work spaces and the shop clean, organized, and safe for all team members.
- Work alongside journeyman technicians and the shop foreman to assist with more complex repairs and gain hands-on experience.
- Actively participate in mentorship opportunities and on-the-job training to build technical knowledge and skills.
- Commit to professional development by pursuing certifications such as ASE and staying up to date with and standards.
