Job Description
POSITION:
Plumber, Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training supplemented by six years of plumbing maintenance and repair experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Minimum General Contractor’s License for Interior Renovations in the state of South Carolina or one of the mechanical licenses regulated by SC LLR is desirable.

SALARY: $19.95 - $31.89 Hourly Range
JOB GOAL:
Under general supervision, performs skilled plumbing maintenance and repair work in the maintenance of District schools and other facilities. Performs related work as required.
Job Duties
- Performs a variety of skilled plumbing maintenance and repair tasks in the maintenance of District facilities, systems and equipment.
- Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and/or replaces pumps, plumbing fixtures, water heaters, water valves, water fountains, faucets, PVC and copper water lines, drain field lines and septic tank irrigation systems, PVC and cast iron sewer lines, etc.
- Maintains and repairs kitchen plumbing fixtures.
- Clears clogged commodes, sewer lines and sinks.
- Performs preventive maintenance functions as appropriate.
- Anticipates and requests supplies, materials and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Cleans and maintains assigned vehicles, tools and equipment.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of work completed and materials used.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly shop area.
- Performs all duties in compliance with District and department policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
- Receives and responds to concerns, complaints and inquiries in areas of responsibility.
- Operates a vehicle, back hoe, trencher, tractor, and a variety of equipment such as cutting torch, soldering torch, various plumbing and other hand and power tools, etc.; uses hardware, spare parts and other maintenance supplies.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, coworkers, facility supervisors, District / school administrators and staff, vendors and service providers, contractors, and the general public.
- Attends training, meetings, workshops, etc., as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Responds to assigned work orders.
- Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours, as directed.
- Maintains a valid S.C. Driver’s License.
- Must be able to work outside for eight (8) hours a day (flexible schedule when required) and lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Moves furniture and other heavy items as necessary.
- Works with others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner.
- Assists other building maintenance staff with tasks as necessary.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities designated by the Director of Maintenance and Operations.
- Physical Requirements:
Requires medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, stretching or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis, or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy. - Data Conception:
