Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Switchboard Quality Inspector - 2nd Shift. Schedule for the role will be Monday-Friday and hours are 2:00 pm - 12:00 am, Monday through Thursday. The hourly rate for this position is $19.00 - $23.75 per hour. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Responsibilities- Inspect and Hi-Pot switchboard products produced on all lines, according to inspection work instructions and applicable governmental requirements, to confirm proper function, identify non-conformances, and ensure the product meets customer specifications, safety and quality requirements. Document inspections on the applicable checklist.
- Perform electrical testing using Hi-Pot, continuity testing, and component-specific testing devices. Verify switches and circuit breakers function properly. Verify torqued connections using a torque wrench per inspection instructions. Conduct electrical and mechanical tests per safety and training requirements and procedures (Hi-Pot).
- Examine and verify mating structures as necessary to ensure that the job is complete and field installation is problem-free (e.g., splice plate dimensions, kirk key coordination).
- Verify revisions released to the production floor regarding functionality and customer specifications are incorporated into the product; ensure current revision is reflected in all documentation and discard previous revisions as appropriate (process and update paperwork such as POM, test reports).
- Ensure that component literature and necessary product documentation are included with the job.
- Document and communicate non-conformances, maintain critical quality records, and verify required rework to aid problem solving and continuous improvement. Communicate design errors to appropriate personnel for correction, obtain revisions, and verify required rework.
- Identify suspect product and ensure it is not used inadvertently.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- Minimum of two years of manufacturing experience.
- No relocation benefit is offered. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of the Sumter facility (50 mile radius) will be considered.
- Switchboard experience including bus assembly or wiring.
- Working knowledge of Lean concepts.
- Associates degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
- Knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality.
- Knowledge of assembled switchboard product designs (e.g., PRL-C, PRL-I, IFS, FDS, MF, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Eaton systems such as Enovia, DMM, POM, MRP/ERP (AS400), MQ1.
- Knowledge of applicable UL codes, NEC codes, regional utility codes, and customer-specific requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing documents, including front view, MIs, Blow-Thrus, Wiring Diagrams, component literature, engineering drawings, and testing procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multi-tasking and high accountability.
Expected to work with some degree of independence and make decisions that affect the workgroup. Focus efforts on attaining assigned goals and objectives, including meeting the needs and expectations of internal and external customers.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands to handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to stoop, lift, carry, push, pull, and grip. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 35 pounds and to push/pull up to or greater than 35 pounds with or without accommodation.
Vision requirements include far and near vision with depth perception and color discrimination. The employee is regularly required to communicate.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to noise and frequently exposed to dust.
