Job Description SummarySirius Staffing is looking for a Maintenance Planner to support a high-performing manufacturing operation within the medical device industry. The purpose of this role is to determine the labor and material resources needed, as well as the time required, for all planned maintenance activities (PM, CM, outages, and other planned work). This position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of Maintenance and Engineering functions by developing and supporting an effective, integrated maintenance planning and scheduling system in partnership with Production.
The Maintenance Planner will provide visibility across all maintenance plans that may impact assets, optimize the use of technicians and spare parts, and minimize downtime while ensuring strict compliance with quality systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Regular and punctual attendance are essential job functions .
Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and continuously improve a comprehensive maintenance planning and scheduling program that drives efficiency, productivity, and equipment reliability while meeting regulatory, safety, and budget requirements.
- Plan, schedule, and ensure on-time completion of preventive maintenance (PM) to protect production areas from unplanned downtime and equipment failures.
- Manage all planned and scheduled maintenance activities , including work order creation, resource allocation, and backlog reduction, to ensure timely execution of work.
- Coordinate closely with production planning to increase planned maintenance work and ensure optimal utilization of technicians, contractors, and spare parts with minimal impact to production.
- Validate labor hours, materials, tools, and resources required for each job, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) requirements.
- Monitor and control maintenance KPIs , including costs, recorded hours, planning effectiveness, and backlog trends; identify priorities and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Support business continuity by providing planning support to line teams during absences and rotating responsibilities as needed.
- Outsource non-core planned maintenance work when appropriate to maximize efficiency and focus internal resources on critical plant operations.
- Perform other duties as required to support business needs.
- High School Diploma required; higher-level degree preferred
- 2 –5 years of experience in maintenance as a technician or first-line supervisor, with hands-on experience supporting processing and packaging equipment installation, maintenance, and machine start-up
- 2 –5 years of experience with plant facility and utility equipment maintenance preferred
- Formal training in maintenance excellence practices, including planning, work control, prioritization scheduling, and KPI management
- Working experience with a CMMS required (
SAP preferred ) - Demonstrated servant leadership capabilities with strong interpersonal and team development skills
- C ommunication skills with the ability to coach, train, and support maintenance teams
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
- Smoke-free campus (including electronic smoking devices and tobacco products)
- Jewelry, false eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and dermals are not permitted on the production floor ( dermals must be covered)
- Steel-toe, non-slip safety shoes required on the production floor
