Location: Sumter, SC 29152 (Shaw Air Force Base)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day shift

We are seeking a detail-oriented Healthcare Administrative Professional to join our team at Shaw Air Force Base. This critical role focuses on managing specialty care referrals, maintaining accurate medical records, and providing exceptional patient support within a military healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities- Referral Management & Coordination: Initiate, track, and close specialty care referrals within established timelines
- Review referrals for administrative completeness and accuracy
- Coordinate with specialty clinics and network providers
- Process Referrals Outside Facility Requirements (ROFRs) promptly
- Medical Records & Documentation: Ensure all documentation is clear, legible, and accurate
- Import/scan documents into electronic medical records systems
- Verify and update patient demographics and eligibility information
- Generate referral tracking reports and metrics
- Patient Support & Communication: Provide patient education on specialty care procedures and referrals
- Advise patients on TRICARE benefits and eligibility
- Schedule appointments within MTF and direct care systems
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients and staff
- Coordinate with patient travel services as needed
- Administrative Excellence: Maintain HIPAA compliance in all operations
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare software systems
- Perform receptionist duties with professional telephone etiquette
- Support clinic operations with clerical and administrative tasks
Required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years of healthcare administrative experience (within last 3 years)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Windows)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Understanding of medical ethics and HIPAA regulations
Highly Preferred
- Experience with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding
- TRICARE benefits knowledge
- Military healthcare or VA system experience
- Electronic Health Records (EHR) system experience
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently
- Professional telephone and email etiquette
- Adaptability in fast-paced environment
- Discretion with confidential information
