Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. The position will be based at our facility in Sumter, SC.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83,000 - $122,000 per year and the position is eligible for a variable incentive program. Salary information is a general guideline only and is based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, and market and business considerations.
Primary ResponsibilityReporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will support the planning and execution of technical projects related to manufacturing methods, material flow, processes, facilities, systems, and equipment. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of existing capabilities and new technologies. Responsibilities include managing capital projects, initiating orders for machinery and production equipment, investigating and troubleshooting technical problems, providing day‑to‑day production support, and engaging in long‑term strategic planning.
The engineer will lead new product introductions (NPIs), select tooling, develop new processes, revise plant layout, and, when appropriate, write, review, or revise operation sheets and time‑motion studies. Cross‑functional support will be given to Quality, Supply Chain, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Design Engineering, and Front‑End ordering.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer focuses on waste reduction, cost efficiency, and lean transformation. The role is heavily involved in continuous improvement (CI) activities such as Kaizen events and leads projects implementing Industry 4.0 technologies—including robotics, automation, and data digitization.

- Improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs through innovation and design.

- Process Improvement:
- Identifyout projects through productivity improvements.
- Promote continuous improvement using lean manufacturing techniques.
- Develop and maintain robust, cost‑efficient manufacturing processes.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with all levels, departments, and facilities within the organization.
- Provide technical expertise to support daily operations and achieve production goals.
- Investigate and resolve safety‑related projects.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 2 years of engineering or project/program management experience, which may include co‑op or internships.

- 3 years of engineering experience or equivalent from co‑ops/internships.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 2 years of managing large (capital) projects.
- Experience in a high‑mix / engineered‑to‑order manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works, Creo, etc.
- Sheet‑metal fabrication expertise (laser, punching, spot welding, powder coating).
- High mechanical aptitude.
- Industry 4.0 experience.
- Experience with new product introduction.
- Understanding and use of lean tool methodology.
- Automation and controls system experience (HMI, PLC, ladder logic, etc.).
- Ability to research and lead projects that implement various Industry 4.0 technologies, including robotics, automation, and data digitization.
