Guidance Counselor - Lakewood

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a master's degree and valid South Carolina educator certification in Secondary School Counseling.

LOCATION: Lakewood High School

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

• Works with students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom.
• Guides in the decision making processes concerning academics and personal/social development.
• Helps students evaluate their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personal characteristics for educational planning.
• Consults with outside resources/agencies to maximize and coordinate the use of available services.
• Consults with parents regarding their children, family counseling on school related issues, and meetings for special purposes.
• Provides services and expertise to and for the students, teachers, administrators, parents, and community.
• Assists students in developing self-confidence and a positive self-concept.
• Assists students in strengthening interpersonal skills.
• Assists students in analyzing personal learning styles and improving individual study skills.
• Schedules, attends and presents at placement meetings.
• Confers with teachers and parents whenever necessary.
• Performs all other related duties as required.

TERM: 205 Days.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation.
