. This is a substitute teaching opportunity associated with Liberty STEAM Charter (LSC).
Liberty STEAM Charter is committed to the long-term development of scholars and seeks to hire a pool of guest teachers to join lead educators for the 2022-23 school year on an as-needed basis. The substitute teachers will assist with duties inside and outside the classroom, support arrival/dismissal and transitions, and participate in school-wide activities and celebrations. Candidates should be excited to work in a high-performing public charter school environment and demonstrate a track record of excellence in working with children.
SpecificResponsibilities
- Provide substitute teaching coverage for teachers within the school
- Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards in the absence of regular teachers
- Ensure that school policies are observed during all activities
- Meet periodically with school leaders to implement feedback on lessons and instruction
- Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for scholar behavior
- Supervise students during recess and transitions, breakfast, lunch and after school
- Communicate effectively with students and colleagues
- Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom
- Evidence of self-motivation, willingness to be a team player, and a strong sense of personal responsibility
- Hard-working, urgent, energetic, and willing to learn and adapt
- Reflective and constantly seeks improvement
- Flexible and adaptable to unpredictable circumstances
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities is preferred but not required
- Ability to pass a state and national background check
- Satisfactory references
- Participation in a paid three-hour guest teacher training
Guest teachers work on a half-day (7:15-11:30 am) or a full-day schedule (7:15 am - 3:45 pm) and are compensated at the following rates: $12/hour (non-certified, Tier 1 with high school diploma), $15/hour (non-certified, Tier 2A with AA degree), $18/hour (non-certified, Tier 2B with Bachelor’s Degree), or $20/hour (certified). Retirees in the School District (non-certified) are placed in the Tier 2B pay category.
Daily rates are provided as follows:
Tier 1 $ 102, Tier 2 $ 127.50, Certified $170. For more information, please refer to the Liberty STEAM Charter site.
