Electrical Superintendent – Renewable Energy Projects

Are you an experienced Electrical Superintendent with a passion for leading high-performing crews and delivering quality results on utility-scale renewable energy projects? Do you thrive in fast-paced field environments where safety, planning, and execution excellence are critical to success? Gridworks is seeking a skilled Electrical Superintendent to oversee electrical construction activities across solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. In this role, you will lead field electricians, coordinate daily operations, and ensure electrical installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable codes and project specifications.

This position requires travel and a strong on-site presence.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and direct daily work activities of electricians and field personnel.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop and implement electrical installation strategies.
  • Supervise and coordinate electrical construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Provide medium- and long-term planning to ensure crew readiness, material availability, and project efficiency.
  • Monitor work progress and provide updates to Site Superintendents, Director of Construction, and Safety teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, company policies, and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Manage site preparation, organization, and cleanup activities.
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials to ensure timely arrival and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct mandatory training sessions on installation methodology, tool standards, and safety practices.
  • Apply and enforce National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
  • Train crews on conduit installation, wiring runs, homeruns, combiner box wiring, and tool management standards.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to electricians and apprentices.
  • Supervise and lead electricians on job sites.
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and performance management as needed.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

This is a 100% field-based position in fast-paced, dynamic construction environments. Work may involve exposure to outdoor conditions including extreme heat, cold, sun, and winter weather. The role requires the ability to work at heights, climb ladders and scaffolding, operate in confined spaces, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive physical tasks. Extended hours, weekends, or work outside normal business hours may be required based on project needs.

Qualifications
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience as a Journeyman Licensed Electrician required.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction practices, electrical systems, installation methods, and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and electrical plans.
  • Proficiency in equipment layout and commercial/residential circuitry.
  • Advanced pipe bending skills (½ inch through 1-inch EMT minimum).
  • Proficient in use of tools and equipment related to commercial electrical work.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage small or large field crews.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform work in confined spaces.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
  • Willingness to travel to various project locations within and outside of New Mexico.
