We are looking for a skilled journeyman diesel mechanic with 5+ years of experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of light and medium‑duty trucks and heavy equipment, servicing the Puget Sound area of our fleet.

• Maintain and repair a fleet of trucks and heavy equipment, including pavers, backhoes, rollers, excavators, and more.
• Perform general and special maintenance, including hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic diagnosis and repair in shop and field.
• Complete routine inspections on trucks and equipment as required.
• Keep accurate records in the shop maintenance system (RTA) of all repairs.
• Assist with or complete the fabrication of parts and/or tools necessary to complete a specific task.
• Order and organize parts, maintaining stock inventory and ensuring proper documentation.
• Remain at shop on designated late nights until crews have returned.
• Comply with and follow all safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as required.

• 5+ years diesel mechanic journeyman experience with:
  • Skill maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Manual transmission diagnostics and service.
  • Hydraulic, air, and electric brake troubleshooting and repair; brake certification.
• Knowledge of regulations; DOT certification and a history of performing DOT inspections.
• Experience with computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Own set of tools (up to 2" sockets and wrenches, "&" drives).
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; CDL Class A preferred.
• Schedule flexibility to meet seasonal peak and other business demands.

This position works 10‑hour shifts, either first or second shift, Monday through Friday, with additional Saturday work depending on demand. Schedule flexibility and willingness to work overtime are essential.

• All new CDL Driver hires must register for the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and consent to AA Asphalting reviewing their record.
• Pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check required.
