We are looking for an experienced Data Center Facilities Operations Manager to support a major critical data center colocation facility. The Director will be responsible for managing the overall quality and service of the operation and maintenance of critical facility infrastructure in accordance with company policies and procedures. This is a 24/7/365 operation. The Director will work with the Chief Engineer to maintain relationships with customers.

The successful candidate will oversee the in-house facilities team to ensure the site meets high and dynamic standards of internal customers and complies with all SLAs. The candidate will provide leadership and support through planning, communication, and management of a team responsible for delivering data center facility services, ensuring quality and consistency, meeting customer requirements, managing issue resolution, and reporting key metrics for the site.

Responsibilities include establishing goals and objectives for the region based on corporate strategic and business plans.

• Perform periodic site walk-throughs to ensure SOPs and standards are followed, assisting the Facilities Manager, Technicians, and contracted vendors.
• Identify vulnerabilities while overseeing 3rd party critical facilities onsite teams.
• Communicate operation status with senior management and onsite customers.
• Site acceptance and commissioning to meet Company Standards.
• Coordinate efforts between contracted vendors and onsite customers.
• Develop and approve Procedures / Method of Procedures (MOPs) for DC build and data hall work.
• Participate in interviewing prospective candidates for the facility.
• Audit installed data center components to verify job scope completion and verify build-out documentation for ongoing operations.
• Provide strategic leadership with best practices related to operations for performance and reliability of critical systems (e.g., MV switch gear, diesel generators, UPS, PDU, CRAC, chillers, cooling towers, BMS, fire detection/suppression).
• Supervise onsite management, facility technicians, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure work follows established practices and procedures.
• Obtain and review vendor bids for maintenance, support, and repairs; select appropriate vendors and ensure adherence to quality, scheduling, budget, and standards.
• Manage customer relationships and act as escalation point at this site.
• Set performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of facility operations and maintenance.
• Collaborate with business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Review MOPs and SOPs for all work on critical facility equipment.
• Maintain a constant state of readiness to support the mission of 99.999% uptime.

• 10-15+ years of data center / critical facility operations and maintenance experience.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in data center facility operations, supervising or managing a technical staff.
• Previous experience as a Data Center Facility Manager is required.
• Strong understanding of critical electrical and mechanical/HVAC equipment (UPS, generators, switch gear, PDU, CRAC, chillers, etc.).
• Budget / P&L responsibility.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent directly related experience.
• Good presentation skills for leading meetings (in person and virtual).
• Strong analytical, planning, and problem-resolution skills.
• Knowledge of company services and operations structure and support operations.
• Experience with various computer systems and applications.
• Highly organized with proven project management abilities; ability to multitask, set priorities, and manage conflicts.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Experience with military veterans with electrical/mechanical background is a plus.
