What You Will DoThe Principal Scientist, Facial Moisture Treatment, will have end-to-end responsibility for product development across skincare facial treatment categories. Strong communication skills together with the ability to manage complexity are must have prerequisites. The candidate will provide strategic and operational skills in the execution of regional and global projects, including analyzing new consumer insight to build a strategic innovation pipeline. This role will work independently to perform research of a complex nature where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various identifiable factors in one or more areas.
Responsibilities will also include development of more junior scientists.
- Lead innovative end-to-end skincare development projects working with partners internally and externally.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and performance standards are met.
- Stay current on industry trends and technologies to drive product innovation.
- Present technical learning plan and risk assessment to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement in the development of new materials, processes, and products to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Define, design, and implement new skincare features.
- Troubleshoot, identify root cause and define a design of experiments to implement solutions to technical problems.
- Ability to make decisions quickly in multi-disciplinary field and evaluate risk taking.
- Draft and execute peer reviewed manuscripts, tech reports and patent filings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 6-8 years of related experience in skincare product development.
- Strong experience with cosmetic and OTC formulation is required.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully launching innovative skincare products.
- Strong knowledge of cosmetic regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Experience with scaling up cosmetic formulation.
- Proficiency in working with third-party and/or contract manufacturers to develop and manufacture cosmetic products.
- Ability to manage routine processes and complexity, risk-taking and decision making are critical components of the role in providing guidance and solutions to technical problems.
Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges: $127,075 – $179,400.
