Position: Certified Medical Assistant I, AMG Neuroscience - Full Time, Days - 8am - 4pm - Summit

Overview

Certified Medical Assistant - Full time, Days 8:00am - 4:00pm - AMG Neuroscience in Summit

Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure functionality of practice operations to provide excellent patient care. Works in a clerical, administrative, or clinical capacity and may be asked to perform more specialized tasks.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
  • Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
  • Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
  • Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
  • Taking vital signs:
    Typically performed before a patient sees a doctor to establish a baseline for future exams.
  • Assisting with examinations:
    Working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks.
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory samples:
    Instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood.
  • Excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability to a fast-paced environment, and maintaining professionalism at all times. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Greeting patients and scheduling appointments:
    Welcoming patients to the facility and organizing appointments for patients.
  • Maintaining medical records:
    Recording patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system.
  • Cleaning and preparing patient rooms:
    Sanitizing and reorganizing rooms between visits.
  • Prepping examination rooms:
    Ensuring the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies.
  • Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
  • Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
