The Board of Education of Argo Community High School District 217 seeks an experienced, visionary, and student-centered leader to serve as Superintendent of Schools. DistrictArgo Community High School District 217 serves students in grades 9–12 and is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and intellectually challenging learning environment. Position OverviewThe Superintendent serves as the District’s chief executive officer and is responsible for administration and management of the District in accordance with Board of Education policies, directives, and applicable State and Federal law. The Superintendent works collaboratively with the Board of Education, District administration, staff, students, families, and community stakeholders to ensure the success and well-being of every student. The Superintendent is expected to be a visible, approachable, and community-centered leader who builds trust, communicates effectively, and leads with accountability, transparency, and purpose.

- Effective communication skills, including the ability to listen, engage authentically, and communicate clearly and consistently
- Strong organizational and operational leadership, including the ability to streamline systems, clarify roles, and improve efficiency
- Demonstrated financial stewardship and the ability to align resources with district priorities and long-term sustainability
- Knowledge of Illinois school law, labor relations, and collective bargaining
- Experience overseeing facilities, enrollment trends, and capacity planning
- Understanding of special education programming, compliance, staffing, and student support systems
- Commitment to recruiting, developing, supporting, and retaining high-quality administrators, teachers, and staff
- Courage to make difficult decisions while prioritizing student needs and district values
- Ability to develop, implement, and note progress on a strategic plan with measurable goals and accountability measures
- Willingness to leverage emerging technologies to enhance instruction, operations, and communication
- A relational leadership style grounded in humility, professionalism, and a deep commitment to students
- Performs other related tasks assigned by the Board of Education
The Superintendent is authorized to develop administrative procedures and take actions necessary to implement Board policy and fulfill assigned responsibilities.
