Key Responsibilities Of a Cook
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Establish line for each meal period and prepare plates according to resident diets.
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.).
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen; monitor sanitation procedures for daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
  • Monitor all hot and cold temperature logs daily.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
  • Check quality of ingredients.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED;
    Serv Safe preferred.
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).
  • Knowledge of cooking temperatures for various food types (meats, vegetables, desserts, etc.).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • One year cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare, or hospitality setting.
