Job Summary and QualificationsUnder the direction of the Nursing Director or Supervisor, the Obstetrics Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Obstetric RN directs all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice and federal, state, and local regulations. The RN incorporates knowledge of patient’s age‑specific development and cultural values into the plan of care.
The Obstetric / Labor and Delivery RN contributes to quality nursing care through process improvement techniques and multidisciplinary collaboration that demonstrates positive outcomes in the delivery of patient care. Direct supervision of students may occur at the discretion of the area supervisor.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- STABLE must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- (C‑EFM) Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
