The Role
We’re looking for a motivated, detail‑driven Registered Nurse (RN) to support both clinic and operating room functions within our busy surgical practice. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role that blends patient‑facing clinical care with perioperative and OR support. You’ll work closely with surgeons, patients, and the surgical team to ensure seamless care from consultation through procedure and recovery.
This role requires flexibility to float between our Nexton (Summerville) and Daniel Island locations, supporting both clinic and operating room needs as required. Some local travel between locations is required. Flexibility to support multiple sites is essential.
Key Responsibilities Clinic & Patient Care- Assist physicians during consultations, evaluations, and clinical documentation
- Take and monitor patient vital signs
- Provide pre‑ and post‑operative education to patients and families
- Serve as a communication liaison between patients, families, and the surgical team
- Administer medications (oral, subcutaneous, and IV) as prescribed
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR – 4D)
- Perform voicemail triage and patient follow‑up communication, including assessing concerns and responding appropriately or escalating to the provider when needed
- Prepare operating rooms for patients and scheduled procedures
- Verify correct patient, procedure, and surgical site prior to surgery
- Assist with patient positioning, comfort, and safety
- Monitor surgical equipment to ensure proper function
- Handle specimens according to protocol
- Perform pre‑ and post‑procedure inventory counts of instruments and supplies
- Support intraoperative workflow and patient safety
- Manage patient documentation during procedures
- Monitor equipment and ensure adherence to surgical protocols
- Ensure accurate handling of supplies and specimens
- Select, prepare, and provide instruments and supplies to the surgeon as needed
- Maintain sterile field throughout procedures
- Inventory instruments before and after surgery
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff
- Support smooth case flow across clinic and OR settings
- Communicate updates, concerns, or changes promptly to the care team
- Adhere to infection control standards, HIPAA, OSHA, and South Carolina Board of Nursing regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of clinical and OR spaces
- Participate in training, meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
- Report safety concerns, incidents, or unusual findings as required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (or ability to obtain South Carolina licensure promptly)
- Current BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
- 1–2 years of nursing experience, ideally in perioperative, medical‑surgical, OR, PACU, plastics, or aesthetics
- ACLS certification (required)
- Experience with EMR systems and accurate clinical charting
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a surgical environment
- Ability to float between multiple clinic/OR locations (Nexton + Daniel Island)
