Senior Software Engineer – Observability

Join Elastic’s Observability team as a Senior Software Engineer. Elastic is a Search AI company that helps everyone find answers in real time by combining search precision with AI intelligence. The Elastic Search AI Platform is used by more than half of the Fortune 500 and empowers businesses and people to unlock the potential of their data.

The Observability Ingest team builds tools to collect and ingest data quickly and efficiently. The Elastic Agent Control Plane team is responsible for unified data collection and management, maintaining tools as Elastic Agent, Fleet, the Beats platform, and data transformation tooling like Logstash, ingest pipelines, and runtime fields.

• Maintain and evolve the current Elastic Agent, Fleet Server and Beats platforms, all written in Go.
• Improve and maintain the Elastic Distribution of Open Telemetry Collector (EDOT), an open‑source distribution of the Open Telemetry Collector.
• Support services running as part of Elastic Cloud Serverless and Elastic Cloud Hosted.
• Design and build features that work across macOS, Windows, and Linux platforms.
• Work with our support team to help customers.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to ship enterprise‑ready software.

• Production experience using Go for systems development.
• System programming experience on Linux, Windows, and/or macOS.
• Experience participating in complex technical conversations.
• Experience with operational monitoring and restoring production services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, strong problem‑solving, and the ability to debug and fix sophisticated issues.
• Ability to work in a team distributed throughout the world.

• Experience collecting data on the edge and shipping it to a central place.
• Production experience with cross‑platform development and packaging.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with observability platforms and tools such as Open Telemetry and OpAMP.

We offer competitive pay (base only; variable compensation is not part of this role) with a typical starting range of $128,300—$203,000 CAD. Benefits include health coverage, flexible scheduling, generous vacation, a company‑matched Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with dollar‑for‑dollar matching up to 6%, matching up to $2,000 for charitable donations, up to 40 volunteer hours per year, and parental leave of at least 16 weeks.
