Control Valve Repair Technician Lead

Responsibilities

Perform disassembly and assembly of control valves including: read, interpret, and respond to sales orders and customer data sheet information; identify various valves and accessories; perform visual inspections during disassembly and reassembly to ensure all components are correct and in good condition to perform as designed; identify and initiate changes in the sales order system to match customer data sheets; take digital pictures and electronically transfer into the ERP system to track all assemblies.

• Safely disassemble valves and parts including: sliding stem valves, rotary ball valves, rotary butterfly valves, high performance rotary butterfly valves, various bolted bonnet gate, globe, and check valves, soft-seated ball valves, and various pressure globe and rotary valves.
• Safely disassemble actuators and parts including: double acting pneumatic sliding stem piston actuators, double acting pneumatic rotary piston actuators, single acting sliding stem spring and diaphragm actuators, and single acting rotary spring and diaphragm actuators.
• Evaluate parts and maintain material awareness: mark parts correctly, maintain organization and segregation, perform chemical solvent cleaning when needed, inspect parts used in assembly, ensure critical dimension requirements are met, identify and utilize manufacturers’ nomenclature (IOM, inspection criteria, part numbers, model numbers), identify materials using approved PMI methods and related tools, and complete reports.
• Complete quality control sheets with date, sign-off, and status; understand special assembly requirements and maintain compliance with factory and customer requirements.
• Safely and accurately perform some machining processes: drilling/pinning stems for valve plugs using drill press or pneumatic tools; hand grinding for polishing flange and sealing surfaces.

• Safely assemble control valves from repair order instructions, customer test-report/specification sheets, and OEM IOM manuals; perform calibration of all positioners and controllers.
• Valve types include: rotary ball valves, rotary butterfly valves, soft-seated ball valves.
• Install stem packing; safely and accurately attach actuators to valves; set valve travel and bench set on actuators; tube up positioners and controllers to actuators and accessories.
• Test control valves according to applicable code test requirements using manufacturer manuals with compressed air, water, and nitrogen; complete test reports with required detail.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot various pneumatic and digital positioners and controllers per factory or customer specs, including but not limited to:
• Fisher 3582/3582I, 3610J/3610JP/3620/3620JP rotary positioners, 3570 positioner
• Fisher C1P and various Fisher/Valvelink digital controllers
• Digital level controllers and related devices
• Perform complete final inspection of valve assemblies including testing and reporting; operate and understand 475 and TREX handheld communicators.

• Disassembly and assembly of regulators and relief valves including: direct operated regulators and pilot operated regulators; read and respond to sales orders and customer data sheet information; explain purpose and function of regulators and relief valves; perform spring, orifice, and body changes; test and set regulators to desired set points; complete quality control sheets and final inspection.

• Adhere to JHC Total Customer Commitment standards; support colleagues; build relationships internally and externally; travel as required; maintain regular and predictable attendance.

• High School or equivalent
• Minimum of 7 years in the valve repair industry preferred
• TWIC, OSHA Safety, Security Passport
• Valid state-issued driver’s license
• Knowledge of machinery fundamentals including control valves, pneumatic safety systems, and rotary valves
