The Armed Security Officer provides a visible security presence and supports a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors within assigned healthcare facilities. This position responds to incidents and emergency situations, conducts patrols, prepares incident reports, and assists in maintaining compliance with safety policies and applicable laws.
This is a full-time position with multiple shifts available. Officers may be required to rotate between facilities within the designated service area.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine patrols of assigned facilities and grounds.
- Respond to security incidents, emergency codes, and service requests.
- Prepare accurate and objective incident reports.
- Assist staff in managing disruptive or combative behavior using approved de-escalation techniques.
- Monitor surveillance and communication systems.
- Enforce facility access control and parking regulations.
- Support safety initiatives by reporting hazards.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment Requirements
This role may involve:
- Extended periods of walking, standing, and responding to incidents.
- Exposure to emotionally charged situations.
- Outdoor patrol in varying weather conditions.
- Occasional response to emergency events such as fires or evacuations.
Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two (2) years of armed security experience preferred.
- Law enforcement, military, or healthcare security experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required (where driving is a job duty).
- Required state armed security licensing must be active prior to carrying a weapon, in accordance with state regulations.
- Required defensive tactics, firearms certification, and weapon authorization must be completed prior to armed assignment.
- BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.
- Verbal de-escalation training required within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear and factual reports.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Driving eligibility requirements will be evaluated in accordance with applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements.
