Job Description
The R&D Test Technician is responsible for validating the functionality, reliability, and compliance of EG4 inverters, batteries, and ESS products. This role requires operating at a Test Engineer level: designing tests, identifying bugs, driving root‑cause analysis, and ensuring issues are resolved before release.
Key Responsibilities- Test inverters, batteries, and ESS in grid‑tied, off‑grid, and hybrid applications.
- Design and run test plans for firmware updates, features, and compliance validation.
- Identify, reproduce, and document firmware/hardware bugs; verify fixes with engineering.
- Perform stress testing, accelerated life testing, and real‑world simulation.
- Maintain clear test reports, regression logs, and documentation.
- Support certification testing (UL 1741, UL 1973, UL 9540/9540A, IEC 62109).
- Provide usability and installer feedback for product improvements.
- Mentor junior technicians on safe practices and structured debugging.
- Associate’sdegree, technical diploma, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience testing power electronics, inverters, or battery systems.
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC systems, grounding, and safety protocols.
- Experience with firmware testing and debugging (e.g., Modbus, BMS communication).
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, load banks, and test equipment.
- Familiarity with UL/IEC safety standards is preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving and documentation skills.
- Technician with an engineer’s mindset.
- Hands‑on, detail‑driven, and proactive.
- Thrives in fast‑moving R&D environments.
- This position may require the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, lifting 50+ lbs , bending, stooping, computer work, working with live electricity, and other physical activities. Candidates should be able to meet these physical demands with or without reasonable accommodations.
