The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Airport Operations Agent at the Sugar Land Regional Airport.

Airport Operations Agent Responsibilities: The Airport Operations Agent will provide assistance in the coordination of aeronautical activities and operations at the Sugar Land Regional Airport. The position includes:

  • Inspect airport operation/movement areas including runway and taxiway system, lighting and NAVAIDs; ensure pavement areas, lighting systems and equipment are working and in compliance with FAA regulations; maintain all required inspections and reports.
  • Enforce the policies and procedures in the Airport’s Emergency Response Plan, Hurricane Plan, SW3P, SPCC, PMP, and any other plan assigned by Airport Management.
  • Respond to airport emergencies and assist in emergency operations as needed; notify proper authority of emergencies and respond as required; assist in investigations of aircraft accidents, incidents, or movement area incursions with other Operations personnel.
  • Perform required work and seek opportunities to finish tasks or projects.
  • Assist in public relations by telephone, e-mail, tenant meetings or in person; disseminate information to the public including rules and regulations, ordinances and Federal Aviation Regulations.

Formal Education:

  • High school graduate, GED or equivalent.

Relatable Work Experience:

  • Preference given to those with Airport or FBO experience and knowledge of aviation terminology.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and their applicability to the Sugar Land Regional Airport is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a similar position or military service is preferred (discharge from military service must not be for bad conduct or dishonorable).
  • Ability and willingness to learn Airport Operations policies and procedures; this will vary based on daily needs of the Airport.

Training (License and/or Certification):

  • Valid Class C Texas Driver License.
  • Must be able to obtain a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate within 12 months of employment.
