Store Team Members are an essential part of customer service in any Academy store, responsible for providing fast, friendly service and helping customers navigate the abundance of choices, while supporting customer satisfaction, store profitability, and Academy’s mission.

• Provide fast, friendly customer service to customers in the store.
• Assist customers in navigating the broad product assortment and making informed selections.
• Support store profitability and Academy’s mission through effective service and operations.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Associates or Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice preferred (Asset Protection Team Member Only).

• Previous related work experience preferred.
• Operating POS equipment, symbol, and telephone preferred (Cashier Only).
• In-direct support of people and processes to drive operational excellence and expected sales targets (Cashier Only).
• 4+ years of outdoor hobbies, interests, and skills; fishing and hunting experience preferred (Outdoor Enthusiast Only).
• CPR and First Responder certification is a plus (Asset Protection Team Member Only).
• Loss Prevention or Criminal Justice background is a plus (Asset Protection Team Member Only).

• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Ability to connect and engage with customers and communities; bilingual a plus.
• Effective problem solving and communication with customers and team members.
• Ability to execute multiple tasks with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Read, interpret, and follow safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Proficient in basic mathematical computations and following written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
• Operate POS equipment and telephone (Cashier Only); write routine reports (Cashier Only); basic inventory software knowledge (Cashier Only).
• Passionate about outdoors hobbies and skills such as fishing, hunting, shooting, and camping (Outdoor Enthusiast Only).
• Must meet federal and state requirements for firearms transactions (Fishing and Hunting Sales Team Member Only); FOID card requirements (Illinois only) (Fishing and Hunting Sales Team Member Only).
• Proficient in basic hand tools and receiving/cleaning equipment.
• Provide prompt, friendly service to all team members and customers; demonstrate emergency response procedures and strong situational awareness.

• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
• Acceptable hearing and vision to perform job duties.
• Adhere to company hours, policies, procedures, and professional conduct rules.
• Frequently required to walk, reach, and talk; occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull.
• Lift up to 10 pounds constantly and up to 60 pounds occasionally; continuous use of hands and fingers.
• Specific vision abilities required include near, far, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
