Job Overview
The Print Shop Coordinator will supervise the overall operation of the district Print Shop while maintaining high standards of printed materials in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Position DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Train print shop personnel in the operation of all equipment and in the proper usage of all machines, processes and software programs.
- Organize, manage and maintain an automated workflow system that interfaces job intake, pre-press offset or digital print production, bindery and mass mail services.
- Administrator of Print Shop Ordering System.
- Determine district print needs and enhance current print shop offerings and services to meet needs.
- Report financial and statistical information to the Director of Purchasing on a monthly basis.
- Create and supervise print shop staff with goals and objectives for the department and review annually.
- Oversee print shop inventory control including paper stock and supplies required for successful print shop operation.
- Report immediately all unsafe conditions and practices to immediate supervisor.
- Coordinate printing to outsource printers and vendors when needed for special projects.
- Assist in the design to create special projects for campuses.
- Streamline, organize, and create new products for Store Orders that will unify district.
- Supervise all print shop operation, maintenance and projects to ensure the highest quality and timely completion of tasks.
- Supervise all employees to ensure all equipment is operated in accordance with manufacturer’s safety standards.

- Associate's Degree.
- High School diploma and a minimum of 10 years of experience in print production management and graphic design may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a print shop environment.
- Experience in a commercial print shop or in a school district/municipality or government agency digital print shop setting.
- Knowledge of Pre-Press, Imposition, and Make Ready for print.
- Proficiency with PC operation including word processing, Excel spreadsheets and databases.
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage priorities and conflicting demands.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Advanced skills Adobe Creative Suites including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat Pro preferred.
Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations and meeting rooms. The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms;
and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
- Work is performed in an office and warehouse environment and involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions. Work may involve mildly stressful interaction with vendors, school district officials, and department heads regarding the timely delivery of materials, supplies and equipment. The work environment of this position has frequent interruptions. Rescheduling and rearranging matters to meet unexpected changes is frequently required.
Work is subject to deadlines. Maintaining emotional control under stress will be required.
